Shield
Silver gray and gold yellow are the colors used for the Finance Branch. The helmet recalls the battalion's lineal connection to the 47th (Viking) Infantry Division. The star symbolizes the state of Minnesota, the "North Star State," and also alludes to the battalion's nickname, "Star of the North." The lozenge derives from the Finance Branch insignia. Green represents the forests of northern Minnesota. Blue represents Minnesota, which is known as "the land of sky blue waters.

The crest is that of the Minnesota Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was originally approved on 12 Mar 1999. It was amended to change the colors on 4 Nov 1999.
